CONTACT LENS INFECTIONS
Tips on Preventing Contact Lens Infections:
- Many contact lens related infections are associated with “Head cold” viruses. Therefore contact lenses should not be worn when a person contracts an upper respiratory infection.
- During the upcoming flu season, if a person risks being exposed to sick co-workers a hydrogen peroxide based contact lens solution, such as Clear Care by Ciba, may be helpful.
- Certain habits of wearing contact lenses can be more likely to lead to corneal infections, such as extended wear (never removing contact lenses at bedtime), not replacing the contact lens case, not changing the contact lens storage solution daily and not disposing of contact lenses as prescribed.
