Best in my experience with eye doctors. Communicates easily, thoroughly...even with a cranky old geek like me.

I have had several appointments in Farmington & Albuquerque. I don't mind a wait time if I get to see a competent doctor, which I always have. However, the supporting staff seems to not listen too closely to what the doctor has to say. I have calcium concretions in my eyelids, which when they break through the conjunctiva, feel like fine bits of sand in your eye. The doctor told his tech to find me a sample of Refresh Liquigel, yet out they come with Systane eye drops, not nearly the lubricating factor. So, I am an RN, knowing the difference & driving around the city with bleeding eyelids looking for the proper lubricant. Not pleased with the supporting staff.

Miracle of this season: cataract surgery at Eye Associates of New Mexico and Dr. Arthur Weinstein. One and a half hour total surgery time per eye. Ambulatory surgery: walk out the door with a driver and one followup day. Total cost not covered by Medicare and AARP was $100 for eye drops. The surgery includes an ultrasound that breaks up the old lens, which is sucked out. And then a new lens with correction is injected into the capsule in place of the old lens. I continue with my monovision: one eye for distance, the other for near vision. The change was demonstrable like going from cloudy to bright crystal clear. I am an uber driver and the improvement was within 1-2 days.

I have been regularly treated by Dr. Javitt for my glaucoma and his correction and care is exceptional. Misty at the front desk and all of the staff are pleasant, kind and professional.

My cataract surgery in both eyes went so well I recommended it to a friend who has done the same. We are so fortunate in the United States to have this advanced procedure with such skilled surgeons and staff.

Just to put the surgery in perspective, worldwide there are approximately 100 million eyes with cataracts and yet there are only 10 million cataract surgeries per year.[1]

[1] Vision 2020, the Cataract Challenge, London School of Economics 2000.
