The opthamologists are great. But, I did have a negative initial experience with their optician/lens office due to insurance copay confusion. Once they realized that I was unhappy however, they made every effort to correct the issue and went out of their way to accommodate me. Therefore what could have been a negative experience turned into a very good experience because the manager, Vanessa, was so proactive. She explained everything thoroughly and couldn't have been more pleasant. So all good and I will be going there to get my new lenses for all my frames.

This is truly a full service Eyecare provider. Not just vision testing (but they are very well), the can do medical caring for your eyes and surgery if necessary. I had a macular perforations in both eyes, resulting in blend spots. Dr. Ramaya surgically repaired the holes I'm the macula and gave me back my sight.

I'd give EANM 5 stars except for my experiences that aren't consistent. For an appointment, I've waited more than an hour; for others only a few minutes or was seen before I even sat down. Dr. Javid was caring and warm. But then another doctor on the other side was a bit impatient with me for my not understanding his technical language. At times the reception staff has been a bit curt; but most times they are friendly, smart, helpful, and efficient. When I was being fitted for contact lenses (for the first time) the medical let me take ALL the time I needed, staying long after office hours, because I was so clueless with the process.I think it's like anything. Rarely does healthcare work like a fine-tuned machine because doctors and patients aren't machines. On balance, EANM has been really good to me.

This review is for the Los Alamos location. Yes, the wait is ALWAYS ridiculously long. My son has worn glasses since 1st grade. He is now in college. I don't think we have ever been called in to see the doctor without waiting at least an hour. It is completely ridiculous.

Still, the doctors and staff are very friendly and super qualified. Seriously! The doctors in particular work really well with kids of all ages and are very skilled and highly educated. The staff is also very patient. I remember when my son 1st got contact lenses (in middle school). OMG! It literally took him an hour to get the 1st lens in the 1st time (no exaggeration)! The nurses and staff were so patient with him, sitting with him, giving advice, and eventually "checking in" with him every 5 minutes, or so, to see how he was doing. (Yes, he got faster after that!)

Also, there's an optical shop there, so if you want, you can order glasses right then. Of course, you can take your prescription anywhere you want, but I find this convenient.

Los Alamos is a small town. There aren't a lot of options for anything. So, when I find qualified doctors with wonderful "beside manners," I continue to see them, even if it means adding an hour to every appointment for the wait. When my son was little, I had him bring his NintendoDS or homework with him. Later he brought his e-reader or homework. And I always brought my e-reader or knitting with me. Now he's an adult and goes by himself. He knows it's gonna be a long wait....
