Dr. Wong who is no longer with them and dr. Durso have been wonderful. They were able to reverse all the damage that our usual ophthalmologist did to my daughter. They have been wonderful for my very large family and always treated us with respect and answered all our questions. Dr. Durso is quite by nature so you have to ask questions. But his knowledge is awesome and can explain things at a basic level.

I am updating my angry response re Dr Ritsema after a painful complication during 1st eye cataract surgery. She did do 2nd eye and after the pain was relieved, I understood that minor yet painful complication can happen. She treated me very well, even knowing I put an angry review on display.I can't take it away, but I would at least like to amend.Pain can make people crazy!Thank you Dr Ritsema for all your help!Patty

Dr. Lesher performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes. Prior to the surgeries my vision was about 20/40 in each eye and because of the cataracts, it could not be improved with new glasses. In my initial meeting with Dr. Lesher, he clearly explained such things as: (a) the nature of the surgical procedure, (b) the risks associated with it, and (c) the outcomes I could reasonably expect from it. My vision is now near 20/20 in each eye. His work can be summarized in one word: Excellent!

There are several Eye Associates of N.M. offices in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. This review is about the office on Harper Dr. NE in Albuquerque where I was examined last week. Although I live in Rio Rancho, I chose to go to this office because I did not have a good experience at the Rio Rancho office when I was there 3 years ago. All of the offices are booked full with appointments through December 2017 for routine exams! The only reason I got an appointment to be seen within 24 hours was because I had an unusual visual disturbance that could have been a warning sign of retinal detachment (which it was not) and the optometrist at Harper Dr. had a cancellation. My entire time there was efficient without any long waits. The technicians were very knowledgeable, friendly and informative. Everyone paid attention to my reports of allergies to certain additives in eye drops and carefully read the ingredients list before instilling drops in my eyes. The optometrist appeared distracted, did not smile, and did not make eye contact when we conversed. However, he was quick, efficient and thorough. He explained everything to me and took the time to answer my questions and accompanied me to the desk to make a follow-up appointment for an additional test to be done in 2 weeks. I decided that his demeanor was due to overwork or work overload. I asked him if he knew that he was booked full with appointments through December and he said that he was aware that there were no openings for appointments for the next 40 or 50 days! Being in the medical field myself, I know what it's like to have back to back appointments every 20 minutes for 8-10 hours/day, 5 days/week. Somehow I always managed to smile and laugh with my patients though; but, I understand when a physician isn't very sociable---as long as he/she is good at whatever his specialty is. I am going back to this office next week. However, in the future, I am considering changing my insurance from Presbyterian Health Services because their in-network providers are too booked and it is too difficult to get a timely appointment with anyone in their network.
